Hank Willis Thomas: Troy
Photographer Hank Willis Thomas work delves around race and identity. A topic that is very risky and can cause backlash. Take his photograph MasterCard in which a mother and father who just lost their son and the photograph reads out the prices of bullets and a chain. But to pick out the casket for your son is priceless. Or the branding mark of the Nike logo on a black mans head signifying the cost to purchase a professional basketball player. The last photo are called Bearing Witness and it is a project where Thomas photographed almost everyone who knew his cousin, after his death. I admire Hank Thomas work because he voiced his opinion on such heavy topics that people are afraid to talk about or dismiss.
