One of the things that intrigues me about Robert Mapplethrope's photographs are not the controversy behind them but they are beautiful portraitures. The pictures themselves are very well done with strong contrast you sense the emotions behind them. Like the last picture which clearly signifies death but regardless of its meaning all around the picture is beautiful. And I don't want to over use the word because some of the pictures were a little hard for me too look at but I can not knock the fact that Robert Mapplethrope is a great photographer and that clearly shows in his work.
