Came across these artists, Adam Broomber & Oliver Chanarin, who have created this series called Holy Bible. This work is mixed media with a focus on photography and book making with text, which is something I'm hoping to explore next semester for Photo Seminar 2. In this series the artists combine photography with texts in the Bible. Broomberg and Chanarin put together this book by exploring with philosopher Adi Ophir's central tenet in mind: that God reveals himself predominantly through catastrophe and that power structures within the Bible correlate with those modern systems of governance. The Holy Bible mimics the King James version of the Bible, from the text to the curve of the corners of the book. The images were selected from the Archive of Modern Conflict, which were then superimposed into the book and sometimes accompanied with short passages of the text underlined. This creates a connection to the image and text and therefore allows the viewer to question the artists true intent.
