Daily Blog: Jamal Shabazz by Troy
Jamal Shabazz was very active photographing in the urban community in the 80s and 90s. This was when hip hop was booming on the airwaves and was very prominent in the streets. But Shabazz photographs capture a time when the community embraced hip hops message and not more so the materialistic aspect it has become today. Shabazz work stretches through the fashion genre as well and he is also an author. But Shabazz's photographs takes you back to a time when urban communities were proud of who they were, embraced themselves, and started a movement that originated in the South Bronx and spread across the world.
