Julia Blackmon is a photographer who takes images of her children in their home as well as the children of her siblings. She comes from a very large family and is one of nine, so she has plenty of subjects to choose from when setting up scenes for a shot. She combines a mix of reality as well as some fantastical elements to her images which add to the spontaneity "feel" to her images. She pulls inspiration from photographers like Sally Mann and painters like 17th century's Jan Steen. Amongst the chaos element to the images there is still a hint of balance to each image. Most of them are using ambient light and from a little research she doesn't seem to coach the children, unless she's creating a scene from scratch. There's a quirkiness to her images and humor to them as well.
