These photos were taken by Matt Eich and our from his series "Carry Me Ohio". He spent years documenting this area and the people of this area after the mining corporations were stripped. This area used to be home to Matt, and after this event a lot changed that he wanted to capture. He wanted to capture the change that this had on the area. In these years he witnessed the cultural area, the poverty, unemployment, poor housing conditions, drug abuse, and sub-standard schools.
The photos were taken around this particular area, inside and outside homes, inside buildings, of people, and more. The ones I chose to post were all taken with the subject in or around the center. They have a subtle tone to them and although the tone is a little muted the colors in them are still vibrant and stick out.
